ABSTRACT

To achieve environmental sustainability on ships, stakeholders should make efforts to reduce emissions. Port authorities are crucial to attain this goal by introducing new policies. This study takes the Port of Long Beach as an example to assess port-wide ship emissions and explain the significance of shore power policy. Additionally, the study considers the impact of disruptions, such as the COVID pandemic, on ship emissions. The analysis compares data from three years before and after the pandemic to examine the relationship between ship waiting times, quantities, and emissions. The findings indicate that the majority of port-wide ship emissions are generated by berthing or anchoring vessels, from ship auxiliary engines and boilers. Furthermore, ship congestion due to reduced port productivity during the pandemic significantly increased emissions from berthing and anchoring vessels, with the emission proportion increasing from 68% to 86%. Adopting the shore power policy has effectively reduced ship emissions in port areas, and increasing the number of ships utilising shore power will be instrumental in tackling excessive ship emissions.

ABSTRACT

The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has increased research outputs in telemedicine over the last couple of years. One solution to the COVID-19 pandemic as revealed in literature is to leverage telemedicine for accessing health care remotely. In this survey paper, we review several articles on eHealth and Telemedicine with emphasis on the articles' focus area, including wireless technologies and architectures in eHealth, communications protocols, Quality of Service, and Experience Standards, among other considerations. In addition, we provide an overview of telemedicine for new readers. This survey reviews several telecommunications technologies currently being proposed along with their standards and challenges. In general, an encompassing survey on the developments in telemedicine technology, standards, and protocols is presented while acquainting researchers with several open issues. Special mention of the state-of-the-art specialist application areas are presented. We conclude the survey paper by presenting important research challenges and potential future directions as they pertain to telemedicine technology.

ABSTRACT

[...]of this study, no correlation was found between age and service quality perceived by customers. According to research, transformational leaders could make a positive influence on perceived efficiency of information and communication companies by emphasizing the importance of effective use of information technology (Yee, 2000;Seyal, 2015). According to the main context of this forum, Taiwan's telecom business in 2020 was: the spread of COVID 19 virus and the trade war between America and China caused an 8 % drop in the global output value of communication equipment (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute, 2021). In today's competitive and globalized market, telecommunication companies will emphasize that E -Service Management will have to offer better services to their customers because of improving the process and utilization of the service. [...]the E - service quality would have gradually become a core competency for all service industries (Jia & Reich, 2011;Hoerbst et al., 2011).

ABSTRACT

Fast and reliable broadband Internet access is essential, which was emphasized even more during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Still, many locations do not have access to terrestrial broadband Internet access. Satellite communication provides area-wide coverage with high data rates. Europe is served by several geostationary satellites and the new Starlink megaconstellation in low Earth orbit is available since recently. This paper summarizes the findings of our comprehensive study in which we evaluated the performance of different applications over different Internet access technologies, with focus on Internet access via satellite. Four geostationary satellite providers, the Starlink megaconstellation, and two terrestrial access links (DSL and LTE) were selected. Results show that satellite communication provides fast and reliable Internet access. The high latency of geostationary satellite links is problematic for some applications, especially interactive applications and virtual private networks. The Starlink low Earth orbit megaconstellation is able to perform as good as terrestrial Internet access technologies. © VDE VERLAG GMBH ∙ Berlin ∙ Offenbach. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The recent advances in telemedicine have offered real and practical opportunities to health-care providers in sharing expertise and resources in health care over distances. In India, telemedicine has revolutionized the health-care system by minimizing the cost, avoiding the long-distance travels and in timely providing specialist care in remote areas. The Indian Army is also reaping the benefits of telemedicine, by providing round-the-clock medical care to the troops deployed in high-altitude areas.

ABSTRACT

With the advent of the new era, all fields in China are full of vitality. In particular with the vigorous development of network science and technology, many fields are going through a huge change or in the near future. As an important part of the development goal of China’s “sports power,” physical education is also undergoing changes. With the successful conclusion of the Winter Olympics in China, this grand event has added an important stroke to the development of sports in China. In the process of physical education and teaching, the environment of physical education is extremely important. Compared with nonphysical education subjects, it has the characteristics of direct contact between teachers and students and the time of the course teaching process. This paper studies the evaluation index of basketball teaching environment. As a part of physical education environment, it has the general characteristics of physical education environment, but it has its own characteristics. People in the environment are constantly experiencing the influence of the environment on their own individual. Therefore, the research on the evaluation indicators of the basketball teaching environment will play an important role for the students involved. For the research of the mentioned basketball teaching environment evaluation index, this paper proposes the application of genetic algorithm and wireless network technology;the purpose is to make a more scientific and comprehensive target evaluation system for the basketball environment evaluation index. In the simulation experiment of the teaching environment evaluation index, this paper selected a total of 164 people of different grades. The final result showed that 85.16% of the students gave positive comments to this evaluation system. This result confirms the research of this paper.

ABSTRACT

This article proposes a high-speed communication system. Past few years ago, all people witnessed the internet, networking, and communication system as one of the most valuable parts of our life. So people will be able to use high-speed satellite internet. In the modern world, people must consider how much data and internet speed are needed. When more people use internet service at the same time will be required more data and internet speed. Satellite-internet covered hard-to-reach rural areas where Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), a cable, may not exist yet. In the rural areas of Sri Lanka, one of the main problems is, supplying electrical power. In this paper, how to power up satellite connections by using solar energy will be discussed. Primarily, rural village areas of Sri-Lanka where there are no terrestrial internet services available can provide significant achievements for improving the villager's life standards of poor village people of Sri-Lanka. Here discusses how to get many opportunities such as e-learning, e-commerce, e-health, e-entertainment, e-banking and other internet opportunities.
